IT Desktop Support Technician (Field Based)
Be the face of IT for a fast-moving, innovative construction company.
Role Summary Are you the person people turn to when the tech has to work—even in the middle of a dusty jobsite? We’re looking for a hands‑on IT Jobsite Support Technician to serve as a field‑first tech expert for XLI’s construction teams. From setting up mobile networks to resolving critical IT issues on the fly, this role is all about keeping our jobsite operations running smoothly and securely.
You’ll be the boots‑on‑the‑ground problem solver for everything from network dropouts to application support—owning the end‑to‑end tech setup and teardown at our jobsites and field offices. This role combines technical precision with the spirit of a field operator—ideal for someone who loves tech but doesn’t want to sit behind a desk all day.
What You’ll Do
Tackle onsite IT support requests: hardware, software, and network troubleshooting
Set up and decommission temporary jobsite IT environments—laptops, routers, switches, AV tools, mobile devices
Partner with ISPs and vendors to get connectivity up and running—or shut down cleanly
Configure and maintain secure, stable networks (wired and wireless) at remote field locations
Support and troubleshoot construction‑specific software and internal applications
Collaborate with other IT teams to handle upgrades, contract renewals, and deployments
Keep devices updated and compliant with IT and cybersecurity policies
Maintain clear documentation on asset inventory, jobsite setups, and configurations
Support imaging, inventory, and device rollout as needed
What You Bring
3–5 years of IT support experience, with 1+ year of field‑based or onsite work
Hands‑on experience with hardware and networking gear (desktops, laptops, access points, switches, etc.)
Strong grasp of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls
Confident troubleshooting Microsoft 365, AD, and other key applications
Familiar with construction tech environments or mobile jobsite support (a big plus)
Strong communication skills—you can keep calm and clear, even in the field
Familiarity with ticketing systems (like HappyFox) and MDM tools (like Meraki)
Certifications like A+, Network+, or MCP are a bonus
Valid driver’s license and comfort traveling to multiple sites
Working Conditions
Field‑based role with regular travel to project sites and branch offices
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work occasionally in outdoor or active construction environments
Some non‑standard hours may be required depending on project needs
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $85,000 – $105,000/year (CA pay transparency compliant)
Total compensation based on experience, skills, and fit
Full benefits package: medical, dental, 401(k), paid time off, and wellness programs
Bonus potential based on company and individual performance
