Position Summary:
Applied Training Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Plans Section Chief to lead the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of operational information related to emergency incidents. This position is responsible for maintaining situational awareness, developing and distributing Incident Action Plans (IAPs), and tracking resource status throughout all phases of the incident.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, evaluate, and disseminate operational information relevant to the incident
Maintain current and forecasted situational intelligence, including weather, incident impacts, and response activities
Track and report the status of assigned resources across all operational periods
Prepare and distribute accurate and timely Incident Action Plans (IAPs) in coordination with Command and General Staff
Coordinate with other sections to gather and validate operational information
Oversee documentation of incident actions, decisions, and situational updates
Support briefings and planning meetings by providing updated information and analysis
Ensure compliance with ICS documentation standards and reporting requirements
Maintain accurate logs and records for use in after-action reporting and future planning
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in emergency management or planning roles
Demonstrated experience in the development and documentation of Incident Action Plans (IAPs)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Proficiency in ICS forms and incident management systems
Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced operational environments
Must be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience serving as a Planning Section Chief in a State or Federal EOC
Familiarity with WebEOC or other incident management software
Advanced ICS training (ICS-300, ICS-400, and E/L/G-449 or equivalent)
Knowledge of FEMA, EMAC, and mutual aid coordination processes
Other Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship Required: Yes
Performance Location: On-site while on assignment (location TBD)
Relocation Assistance: Not applicable
Clearance Required: None
Travel Required: Yes - up to 100% while on assignment
Working Environment:
The work environment will include EOCs, field sites, or office locations depending on assignment. The position may require extended work hours beyond 12 hours per day, working under high operational tempo, and travel to incident locations throughout the continental United States and its territories.
