The experienced z/OS systems programmer candidate will join a small team of technical system experts who manage, upgrade, and support IBM z/OS Mainframe systems.
The Development Support team provides valuable systems, expertise, and support to Development professionals responsible for various stages of development, from requirements definition and architecture to implementation and customer support for software and hardware print products.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute immediately to z/OS Mainframe tasks and projects, as well as to utilize, expand, and share their technical knowledge and skills in mainframe operating systems.
The candidate will leverage their expertise in mainframe operating systems and strong problem-solving skills to upgrade systems, resolve issues, and assist and educate users and team members.
The new team member will be expected to assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
Must work effectively in a team environment but also be capable of carrying out tasks independently alongside industry experts.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
z/OS systems software programming experience and expertise
Experience with hardware including FICON/ESCON connectivity, DASD architecture (alias (PAV) management, cryptographic coprocessors, data encryption techniques), and virtual (VTS) tape libraries
z/OS experience with catalog management, ISPF/SDSF, z/FS Filesystems, Unix System Services, RACF, JES parameters, SYS1.PARMLIB, SYS1.PROCLIB members
z/OS SYSplex management, including dataset definition and coupling facilities
Ability to debug and resolve mainframe OS software issues across various z/OS levels
Effective team collaboration skills
Ability to teach and assist users and team members
Availability for weekend/off-shift work and maintenance windows
Deep knowledge of z/OS and JES System Programming
PREFERRED SKILLS:
VTAM, TCP/IP, OSA, Virtual Interfaces, Hiper Sockets, VSWITCH
System operator experience
z/OS JES2 and JES3 experience
z/VM system experience
zCX (z/OS Container Extensions) Linux on z/OS
Experience supporting z/VM hosting for z/OS and z/VSE guests
zVSE mainframe system programming knowledge
RACF Security
Experience with z/OSMF and Workflows
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree preferred, with 5-7 years of relevant experience or equivalent z/OS experience
