Safety Manager

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety programs to ensure a safe workplace environment for all employees in a manufacturing setting. This role will lead initiatives that promote a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee safety training programs-including the use of Alchemy, or other learning management systems-to deliver effective training and track employee compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and manage company safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements. Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive ergonomics program to identify, assess, and mitigate ergonomic risks across all departments. This includes conducting workplace assessments, providing employee training on safe practices, and implementing corrective actions to minimize incidents related to lifting, repetitive motion, and posture related strains. Conduct regular workplace inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken. Oversee and manage all safety training initiatives, including the creation, coordination, and delivery of training through Alchemy Training Systems and other platforms. Maintain and monitor safety training records; generate compliance reports and track completion. Implement a behavioral observation program and be responsible for conducting observations to ensure all safety specific policies are being followed (e.g. lockout tag-out, PIT operation, fall protection, etc.) under the direction of the site's Plant Manager and the Maintenance Manager. Collaborate with supervisors and department heads to schedule and conduct new hire orientations and annual safety refresher courses. Assist the Continuous Improvement Manager in owning and maintaining the Process Safety Management (PSM) program and environmental program including considerations for the refrigeration units. Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis, reporting, and corrective action planning. Serve as the site expert on safety-related topics; provide guidance and support to all levels of staff. Coordinates and Executes Emergency Drills • Coordinates emergency drills (e.g. fire drills, inclement weather drills, earthquake drills [CA], chemical exposure drills [ATL, BAL, & SB]) to maintain readiness for reasonably predictable scenarios. • Ensures all required drills are conducted annually for each shift • Maintains proper documentation of all emergency drills performed • Leads the annual site Fire Department walk through Manage workers' compensation cases and return-to-work programs in coordination with HR. Maintain all safety documentation, including SDS, safety logs, inspection checklists, and training records. Develop and coordinate emergency response plans, including drills for fire, chemical spills, and other potential emergencies. Stay current with federal, state, and local EHS regulations and industry best practices. Follow the facility GMPs and lead by example as a member of the site leadership team Support the efforts of the company to maintain our food safety system (SQF) and quality programs Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Six-Sigma certification preferred Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance standards. Experience with Alchemy Training Systems or similar LMS platforms required. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to lead safety initiatives and influence cross-functional teams. Certification such as CSP, CHST, or OSHA 30 preferred. Proficient in MS Office Suite or G Suite, specifically PowerPoint/ Google Slides and Excel/ Google Sheets Ability to prioritize, meet strict deadlines and maintain confidentiality Candidate must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug and background screen. Work Environment:

Manufacturing plant setting, requiring regular presence on the production floor. Must be able to wear the required PPE and conduct physical inspections, including climbing, lifting, and exposure to machinery noise, refrigerated plant, or industrial materials.
