About the Position: Under direction of the assigned department supervisor, supervises the operations and activities of the dispatch unit of the Sheriffs Department, ensuring that efficient and prompt emergency communications are provided for all public safety field personnel and the general public. Prepares and maintains required records and reports.
Coordinates and supervises all operations and activities of the Dispatch Division. Supervises and evaluates the work and performance of Communications Dispatchers and extra-help employees; reviews work to ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures and local, state and federal laws and regulations. Assists with the selection and hiring of new dispatchers. Answers and supervises the answering of all emergency and conventional telephone lines; obtains vital information and dispatches instructions to appropriate law enforcement, fire, EMS, or emergency preparedness agency; tracks progress of officers to ensure officer safety. Shows good judgment in assessing calls for emergency assistance.

Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade;
Two (2) years of experience at the level of Communications Dispatcher. Lead or supervisory experience desirable.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
License & Special Requirements:
Must successfully complete a POST-approved safety dispatcher course.
Must possess a valid California drivers license.
Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation prior to employment.
The Department is recruiting for one (1) vacancy. In addition, Tehama County is also establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Supervising Communications Dispatcher, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list Please upload
