Click here to learn more about life in Tehama County About the Position: Under the direction of the Supervising Corrections Counselor, provides a variety of professional services for adult offenders who have been assigned to the Day Reporting Center. Monitors, conducts and develops programs and services to reduce criminality, improve social behaviors, and provide rehabilitative programs.
Performs various tasks to help ensure the safety and welfare of adult offenders, staff members and the general public. Performs related work as required.
Maintain supervision, order and control of offenders assigned to the Day Reporting Center and take appropriate action in connection with rule infractions or other disturbances. Actively supervises adult offenders assigned to the Day Reporting Center and the movement of offenders within and outside the facility.
May transport offenders to educations programs and work assignments.
Monitors and enforces security procedures and department policies and rules.
Applies disciplinary measures for offenders as appropriate.
Click here to view the complete job description. Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for one year of the required education.
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible criminal justice experience.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
License and Special Requirements:
Requires a valid California driver’s license.
Requires a current certification or recertification in CPR and First Aid.
Must maintain Penal Code 832 qualifications.
Must be able to acquire a Class A California Drivers License
May be required to carry a firearm.
The department is recruiting for one (1) vacancy. In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future full-time vacancies for a Corrections Counselor, as well as subsequent vacancies, which occur during the life of the eligibility list. New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
