Instructor, Community Recreation (West)

Provide instruction of non-credit recreational courses offered through the Athletics, Wellness & Community Recreation Department. Essential Functions Responsible for providing instruction to students and community members Responsible for developing and presenting the department with a curriculum that provides students with a full experience and is structured to accommodate all fitness levels Responsible for setting up and cleaning up after each class Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications High School Diploma (or equivalent) Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience Required CPR/first aid certifications Ability to read, understand, and enforce safety procedures Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of the class Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Possess basic knowledge of fundamental subject area concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population Competencies Critical Competencies Service Focus Communication Quality of Work Very Important Competencies Time Utilization Collaboration Important Competencies Adaptability Continuous Improvement Preferred Qualifications Associates Degree in related field Demonstrated experience with community-based instruction Certifications/licenses, as applicable Professional presentation skills Physical Demands/Working Conditions The work may be performed in a normal, professional office environment; the work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated Work may be partially performed in an environment with sufficient noise that may cause an employee to shout in order to be heard above the noise level Work may be partially performed in an outdoor environment where employees may not be protected from weather conditions Special Note: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College.
