Assessment Graduate Student Associate
The Office of Assessment, Research, Evaluation, & Accreditation (AREA) oversees assessment efforts for UT's Core Curriculum and Service & Support Units (SSUs), among other responsibilities. These assessment processes are essential for maintaining the University's accreditation and play a critical role in enhancing teaching and learning within the Core Curriculum, as well as improving the quality of services offered by SSUs. AREA is currently seeking two qualified graduate students to assist with annual assessment activities related to the Core Curriculum and SSUs. The work completed in these roles will help illuminate student experiences and inform meaningful improvements. With the growing emphasis on assessment in higher education, this opportunity is a strong addition to any academic or professional rsum. We are looking for graduate students who are passionate about improving education and the student experience at UT. Preference will be given to students in the College of Education or those pursuing careers in higher education, though students from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will possess: Strong time management and project coordination skills Experience with data cleaning, management, and analysis (e.g., using Excel, SPSS, and/or similar tools) Proficiency in report writing and communicating data findings clearly and effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal skills, inquisitive nature, collaborative spirit, and initiative-taker These are hybrid positions, with some in-person work required at the FAC Building. Students will be supervised by the AREA Assessment Manager and will receive mentorship in assessment best practices, data analysis, accreditation, and reporting. Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled, in good academic standing, and making satisfactory progress toward a graduate degree. Application Deadline: Wednesday, August 20, 2025 Start Date: Monday, September 1, 2025 Responsibilities: Collect and organize assessment data at the course, program, and unit levels Conduct data entry, cleaning, and preliminary statistical analysis Assist in the development of assessment tools, surveys, and related communications Create data visualizations and support report writing by synthesizing findings and aligning them with learning outcomes, as well as institutional and accreditation standards Support dissemination of assessment results by developing accessible materials, coordinating presentations and/or workshops, and engaging with faculty and campus stakeholders Monitor updates from the institutional accrediting body (SACSCOC) and state coordinating board (THECB), and ensure institutional assessment practices remain aligned with any changes Create and update process manuals for replication Required Qualifications: Strong time management and project coordination skills Experience with data cleaning, management, and analysis (e.g., using Excel, SPSS, and/or similar tools) Proficiency in report writing and communicating data findings clearly and effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Strong interpersonal skills, inquisitive nature, collaborative spirit, and initiative-taker Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program, in good academic standing, and making satisfactory progress toward degree completion Preferred Qualifications: Interest in education or a career in higher education Previous experience with assessment, evaluation, and/or accreditation Salary Range
