Senior Manager, Automation Engineering - Data Modeling and Simulation

The Senior Manager, Automation Engineering - Data Modeling and Simulation is responsible for developing and validating innovative engineering solutions to use within the Store fulfillment network to improve customer experience, business demand, and cost to serve. Leveraging large datasets and data visualization to support strategic decision-making and optimize network performance, the role also assists with the design and development of simulation models used to evaluate the efficiency of fulfillment automation systems. This role is part of the Store Fulfillment team and reports to the Director, Automation Engineering. This is an onsite position based in Bentonville, Arkansas. What You'll Do...
Simulation Modeling:
Develop Digital Twins to identify potential bottlenecks and improvement opportunities with design and make recommendations to maximize customer service level and overall return on investment; build 3-D animation and visualization of the simulation model and present to engineering leadership Advanced Analytics:
Perform extensive SQL-based data extraction, manipulation, and analysis to generate actionable insights; create tailored visualizations that clearly communicate complex findings to both executive leadership and technical engineering teams, supporting data-driven strategic decision-making Data Modeling:
Develop data models to execute algorithms that drive product put away/replenishment, process flows, order prioritization, order batching, etc. and make recommendations of optimization algorithms that maximize asset utilization, throughput, and system/associate performance. Supplier Management:
Lead, manage, and guide external partners like Symbotic and Knapp to deliver highly scalable simulation models Simulation Strategy:
Provide key business and system inputs, technical outputs and business outcomes to shape Walmarts Store Fulfillment Simulation strategy Visionary Mindset:
Combine technologies building blocks like image-based modeling, AI and machine learning, and physics-based game modeling What You'll Bring Experience leading a Simulation / Data Science team providing key business and system design inputs, validation, and optimization value propositions for efficiency and innovation Advanced level experience in data analytics and visualization. Advanced level experience building discrete event simulation models from scratch using industry standard tools such as Enterprise Dynamics, Anylogic, FlexSim, NVIDIA Omniverse Advanced understanding of E2E process flow modeling (FC, warehouse preferred) Expert in using python Simpy and other big-data analysis tools such as (Pandas, Sci-kit, Numpy) with demonstrated experience in having used these tools in complex models Fundamental understanding of ML concepts and experience using tensorFlow/Pytorch etc. Advanced experience in SQL querying languages Experience developing optimization algorithms from scratch (Formulation of objective functions, Gurobi or PulP solvers) At Walmart, we offer competitive pay as well as performance-based bonus awards and other great benefits for a happier mind, body, and wallet.
