Position: Assistant Principal Location: Brookside Elementary School Schedule: 2025-2026 School Year Salary: Per Contract (12-month) To Start: ASAP The Assistant Principal will serve as a key leader in promoting a positive, inclusive, and student-centered school environment. This role supports students, staff, and families by fostering a collaborative school culture, implementing data-driven instructional initiatives, facilitating professional development, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily school functions. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and adaptive leader with a deep commitment to equity and student achievement. They are a visible presence in the school community, actively building relationships with stakeholders and engaging in the daily life of the school. The Assistant Principal must be able to navigate the complex and varied challenges of an elementary school with professionalism, empathy, and resilience. Collaboration is essential to this role. The successful candidate will consistently follow through on responsibilities, contribute meaningfully to team goals, and balance short-term operational needs with a clear vision for long-term school improvement. QUALIFICATIONS: • Massachusetts DESE Principal/Assistant Principal license, required • Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) and/or Bilingual Education Endorsement, required • Master's Degree in Education or related field • Minimum of five years of successful teaching or leadership experience • Strong knowledge of elementary curriculum, instruction, and student development • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills • Experience in Responsive Classroom, Illustrative Math Curriculum, & Expeditionary Learning Curriculum preferred • Experience with the MTSS process • Experience leading professional development • Bilingual candidates, preferred • Experience with the Special Education Process and programs (Inclusion and Substantially Separate) • Equivalent qualifications and experience may be considered at the Superintendent's discretion KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Leadership: • Support teachers and staff in effective instruction, curriculum development, and professional growth • Use student data to guide instructional improvements and interventions • Oversee the supervision & evaluation of assigned staff • Participate and contribute to the District Leadership Team School Climate & Culture: • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment through strong relationships • Cultivate a positive school community where everyone feels a sense of belonging • Upholding the school's core values; Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful • Support student discipline, ensuring fair and effective procedures Operational & Administrative Duties: • Assist in scheduling and staffing • Collaboratively plan and support staff meetings, team collaboration time (TCT), and staff development initiatives Family & Community Engagement: • Partner with families and community stakeholders to improve student learning • Support initiatives to improve family involvement in school activities • Immerse in the culture of the community by attending and participating in after school activities and meetings • Other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration
