Overview:
MV Transportation is actively searching for a skilled Safety and Training Operations Manager. This role involves hands-on management to implement programs and procedures that align with state and federal regulations, as well as corporate and client policies. The selected candidate will take charge of OSHA/CDL compliance at the division level. Key Responsibilities: Lead efforts to ensure all operators meet training requirements set by the company and contracts. Maintain up-to-date safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices tailored to the operational divisions. Serve as the expert on EPA and OSHA compliance and regulations, specifically CDL. Verify that all new hires fulfill minimum qualifications, including background checks and DMV checks. Utilize safety technology tools effectively, analyze trend data, and develop strategies to prevent future safety incidents. Oversee the management and consistency of corporate safety incentives and programs. Foster a cohesive safety culture across locations that promotes teamwork and individual accountability among all staff. Collaborate with corporate claims staff to address all liability and worker's compensation claims promptly, aiming to minimize financial exposure. Manage employee injury claims proactively to reduce lost time, ensuring swift reemployment in light duty roles. Ensure the successful completion of all relevant audits by corporate, client staff, and regulatory agencies. Provide leadership in classroom and behind-the-wheel safety instruction following corporate and client specifications. Qualifications: Experience in transit safety, with a focus on urban public transport preferred. Previous involvement in passenger transportation in a similar environment is a plus. A college degree or at least five years of safety management experience is required. Preferred certifications: Certified Director of Safety (CDS) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Extensive knowledge of applicable safety regulations (FTA, FMCSA, and DOT). Familiarity with corporate safety programs and policies. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with all departments. Proven ability to work independently and maintain objectivity. Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to delegate tasks appropriately. Proficiency in Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office applications.
