Position Overview: The Merchandise Associate supports the daily operations of the Best Buddies Shop, including assisting with key areas of sales and marketing, inventory management, order fulfillment, and customer service. This dynamic role supports both e-commerce and brick-and-mortar retail, from product design to procurement, ensuring efficient and organized merchandise operations.

The role requires in-person work at the Miami Headquarters office Monday and Friday’s consistently, plus one additional day per week flexible to the Merchandise Associate’s schedule, equivalent to 20 hours per week. This role also offers 2 weeks paid time off (40 hours to be used for vacation, sick, or holidays).

Minimum Job Requirements

High school, GED, or some college Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to lift and move boxes up to 30 lbs. and perform tasks requiring physical activity, such as folding and shelving. Basic Proficiency in standard Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel,etc), Proficiency in Canva or similar platform preferred Experience in eCommerice platforms a plus Customer service experience is a plus Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules is essential. Retail store experience is a plus Ability to travel 2 times a year out of state, paid for by the organization

Marketing

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with generating content for social media. Assist with preparing merchandise for events, pop-up shops, and other special initiatives. Travel for one week in July to the Leadership Conference to assist with merchandise pop-up shop setup, sales, and operations.

Operations

Order Fulfillment and Processing

Accurately process and fulfill merchandise orders in a timely manner, ensuring proper packaging and shipping procedures. Track order statuses to maintain clear communication with customers and team members.

Inventory Management

Organize and maintain the merchandise room, including folding, shelving, and putting products away upon deliveries. Unpack, inspect, and organize any new shipments of merchandise upon arrival at Headquarters. Create pre-packaged product bundles as needed for sales. Keep track of inventory deliveries, ensuring that all items are accounted for and properly stored. Monitor stock levels and promptly notify the Merchandise Director when items or supplies (e.g., packaging materials) are low or need replenishment. Assist with regular inventory counts to ensure accurate stock records.

Customer Service

Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries about products, orders, and shipping. Escalate any customer issues or complaints to the Merchandise Director for resolution when necessary.
