Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) has an opportunity for an experienced individual to fill the Sundry Billing Accounting Tech III position. This role involves processing billing requests, providing customer support, reviewing aged accounts, and recommending work methods and processes. The Sundry Billing Accounting Tech III position is essential to the sundry billing function and accounts receivable operations. Responsibilities will also include reconciliations, payment posting, and maintaining accurate financial information for customers and collaborators. This position will report to the Accounts Receivable Manager.

Experience:
Three (3) years of previous accounting and/or bookkeeping experience or one year work experience as an Accounting Technician II.
Education and Experience Equivalency: Combinations of appropriate education, training, certification, and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability to the minimum education and experience requirements.
Desired Qualifications: Proven understanding of accounts receivable. Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), and able to handle difficult conversations with customers. Ability to handle multiple priorities and takes pride in the accuracy, quality, and completeness of work. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to estimate timelines and resources to accomplish a task. Experience with Peoplesoft or other large ERP financial system. Ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Demonstrated ability to take on challenges and work to solve them. Ability to clearly communicate accounting information in non-technical terms. Strong analytical and research skills. Experience working in a team environment, ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across different departments and workgroups and working effectively within a multi-cultural workforce serving a diverse customer base.
