Position Overview This full-time, night-shift role (10 PM – 5 AM, Sunday–Thursday) will provide resident-level inspection services for the new East Entrance to Crystal City Metrorail Station—an $146 M design-build project that broke ground in mid-2024 and is slated for completion in 2027. The work involves systems/low-voltage power, structural concrete/steel, and mechanical scopes. The inspector will report to WMATA’s JDAC staff-augmentation team through PACO Group.
Key Responsibilities
Perform nightly inspections of electrical, communications, structural, and mechanical work, ensuring compliance with WMATA specs, NEC, NFPA 130, and contract drawings.
Verify installation of power, SCADA, CCTV, fire-alarm, and fare-gate equipment; witness testing.
Observe concrete placement, rebar, and steel erection; document with photos and reports.
Enforce WMATA CSEM and OSHA 29 CFR 1926; stop work if unsafe conditions arise.
Review RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings for conformance; address discrepancies.
Track NCRs, punch-list items, and resolution efforts.
Coordinate access, flagging, and RWP clearances with WMATA Operations.
Prepare shift summaries using Procore/Bluebeam for leadership.
Required Skills & Competencies
Expert knowledge of WMATA design criteria, standards, and protocols.
Experience with transit-station inspection across systems and structural scopes.
Clear communication with contractors and stakeholders.
Accurate documentation under tight schedules.
Proactive safety culture and incident prevention.
Software / Tool Proficiency
Bluebeam Revu
Procore
Microsoft Office Suite
iPad-based reporting apps
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
8+ years heavy civil/rail inspection, with at least 3 years on WMATA projects.
OSHA 30-Hour, WMATA RWP Level III, Virginia DHCD or ICC Electrical/Building Inspector, NICET II (Electrical/Communications) preferred.
Hourly Rate: $40-55/hr, based on experience
