Director of Accounting , you will play a key role on the leadership team for our dynamic and fast-growing organization. This position is ideal for a growth-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a hands-on, collaborative team environment. This leadership role will have multiple direct reports across two office locations. POSITION OVERVIEW Key areas for the position include: Financial Oversight & Strategy:
Develop financial controls, forecasting models, and budgeting processes. Compensation Administration:
Manage sales commissions, incentive plans, and compensation structures. Payroll & Benefits Administration:
Ensure accurate payroll processing and optimize employee benefit programs. Billing, Accounts Receivable & Collections:
Optimize DSO, supervise monthly invoices, credit evaluations, collections, and Billing Workflows. Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
Monitor working capital, investment strategies, and liquidity planning. Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Partner with CEO to track gross margin, contribution margin, EBITDA, ensure GAAP compliance, tax reporting, and investor-required financial statements. Accounting Reviews & Risk Management:
Oversee internal/external reviews and maintain regulatory compliance. Investor Relations:
Prepare financial reports for private equity stakeholders. Team Leadership:
Supervise multiple direct reports handling accounting and payroll operations. Process Improvement:
Create SOP’s, reduce manual work, and increase account efficiency. Soft Skills & Traits:
Strong communication, bias for action, detail-oriented and strategics. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Director of Accounting will be a hands-on manager providing leadership and support as well as performing specific tasks for the following responsibilities: Oversee general ledger, month-end close, and financial statement preparation, which may involve both leading others and performing more complex tasks and responsibilities. Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processes. Assist HR on benefit and employee related matters, including annual benefit plan and compliance updates. Lead annual budgeting processes and provide periodic reporting on updated forecasts and cash flow planning. Identify opportunities to streamline or improve existing accounting processes. Work with leadership to provide improved KPI’s for operations. Provide monthly reporting to internal stakeholders on company operations and performance. Support strategic decision-making with financial insights, scenario planning, and reporting. Serve as a primary point of contact for our key banking and payroll partners. Manage annual review and serve as a point of contact for external auditors. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 8+ years of accounting-related experience, including 2+ years of experience in finance leadership, preferably in private equity-backed or professional services firms. Sufficient knowledge of sales commissions structures, payroll systems, and incentive planning. Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Strong background in accounts receivable, credit risk, and collections strategies. Proficiency with ERP systems (QuickBooks preferred) and Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills and experience in prioritizing projects based on substance, urgency, and capacity. The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. PREFERRED SKILLS Demonstrated ability to scale finance functions in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment. Strong work ethic, analytical, and strategic thinking with a growth mindset. Ability to manage complex compensation plans, ensuring alignment with business goals. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
