Position Summary

Perform a wide variety of customer service related duties including but not limited to cashiering, providing information to fixed-route bus customers, scheduling reservations for the disabled community and receiving feedback from customers; may assist with the radio communication/dispatch duties for both the Fixed Route and Sun Van operations.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

High School diploma or GED;

and

Three (3) years of customer service experience to include two (2) years of general office experience.

Cash handling or radio dispatching or two way radio experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire. Preferred Knowledge

Public transit services and basic operations Customer service and public relations techniques Telephone etiquette and procedure Basic operations, services and activities of a communications dispatch program Techniques and methods for cashiering Basic office procedures, methods and computer equipment English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation Basic mathematical principles Principles of cash handling Operate various forms of communications equipment Modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computers Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations Preferred Skills & Abilities

Exhibit effective customer service skills both in person and on the phone Read English at a level necessary to interpret transit routes, schedules, maps, and written materials Calculate math and cash transactions accurately Perform general clerical work including maintaining files and compiling information for reports Maintain accurate and complete records Respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly and in accordance with department policies and procedures. Evaluate and prioritize assignments, work on multiple assignments simultaneously under pressure Appropriately interpret and apply City policies and procedures Operate office equipment including a computers and relevant word processing and spreadsheet applications Type at a speed (25 W.P.M.) necessary for successful job performance Understand and follow oral and written instructions Communicate clearly and concisely Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
