The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, is dedicated to advancing innovative scientific research and technological breakthroughs to improve health outcomes. The Proactive Health Office within program focuses on transformative, proactive health solutions to help people from becoming patients. Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical SETA Specialist to join the Proactive Health Office. The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in clinical research; digital innovation; and business planning, marketing, and commercialization toward the broad uptake of innovative health solutions. This role requires a unique blend of technical, business, regulatory, and collaborative skills to guide the development of innovative health solutions that enhance wellness and improve patient care and outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Research Expertise:
Provide expert technical assistance in developing and evaluating programs to support the Proactive Health Office mission. Digital Health Innovation:
Assist in researching novel technical concepts for proactive health solutions such as those that leverage AI and digital technologies including passive sensing, digital phenotyping, remote monitoring and adaptive treatment strategies. Business Planning, Marketing, and Commercialization Expertise:
Assist and advise on business planning, commercial market, product development, intellectual property. Evaluate potential proactive health solutions for the likelihood of broad uptake and commercialization. Support project planning, execution, and documentation, ensuring alignment with ARPA-H's mission and Proactive Health Office objectives. Regulatory and Ethical Considerations:
Ensure compliance with healthcare technology regulations and address data privacy, security, and ethical concerns in using personal health data. Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Skills:
Work closely with others of diverse and complementary backgrounds to achieve program goals and ensure effective interdisciplinary collaboration. Key Qualifications: Clinical Research Expertise: Advanced degree (Ph.D.) in psychology, biology, public health, or a related field (e.g., neuroscience, integrative health, physiology, medicine) with focus on clinically relevant pain, health behavior (e.g., adherence), or mental health applications. Evaluate potential proactive health solutions for the likelihood of broad uptake and commercialization. Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Skills: Track record of successful collaboration with others from diverse roles (e.g., clinicians, scientists) and fields (e.g., medicine, engineering) to achieve interdisciplinary program goals. Regulatory and Ethical Considerations: Awareness of data privacy, security, and ethical concerns in using personal health data within digital applications. Prior Experience Requirements: Advanced degree (Ph.D.) in psychology, biology, public health, or a related field (e.g., neuroscience, integrative health, physiology, medicine). Clinical research experience with patient populations; understanding of human subjects protections and ethical concerns. Highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and manage changing priorities effectively. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment. Strong technical writing skills with an ability to prepare effective documentation. Strong proficiency in developing presentations and engaging visual materials. 4+ years of experience in project management, research management or related fields. Additional Preferred Experience: Working knowledge of evidence-based practices and related treatment principles. Familiarity with challenges, current trends, and qualitative and quantitative measurement methodologies in pain, health behavior, or mental health realms. Experience in planning and implementation of technology transition from R&D to market or operational environments. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks for healthcare technology development. Experience evaluating research project proposals for scientific merit, innovation, and potential impact. Prior experience working with government extramural R&D funding or with an ARPA (e.g., ARPA-H, DARPA).
