Press Operator

This position is responsible for the safe operations of the mechanical forge and mechanical trim die presses. They will complete 100% inspection of all forged pieces for defects and will report NC pieces to Quality or their foreman. All recordable metrics: production, scrap, & downtime will be legibly written down onto the corresponding press paperwork. General Duties

Promotes, maintains, and enforces safe and healthy working conditions for themselves and other KAAP employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and Company standards. 100% part inspection following critical inspection criteria Interval measurements of WIP pieces and record them on the trend paperwork Be able to start, operate, & shutdown 6300T Sumitomo or 5000T Kurimoto press Check and fill any necessary lube or oil tanks using the appropriate material Accurately record all press production, scrap, & downtime on paperwork Communicate fault codes & report any changes in machine condition to maintenance Report any nonconformance to leadership using STOP, CALL, WAIT Other duties as assigned by the Forging Supervisor. Skills

Understanding and utilization of 5S concept. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Use of simple tools: wrenches, screwdrivers, pneumatic grinders, etc. Ability to solve practical problems and troubleshoot equipment issues. Requirements

High school degree or GED equivalency. Must be able to be certified after 180 hrs. of OJT training. Able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods, to include but not limited to lifting, walking, standing, stooping, pulling, and pushing. Willing to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations; including wearing personal protective equipment. Willing to work in hot/humid, cold, dirty, & noisy industrial environment. Basic computer literacy Good interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
