Accounts Receivable Position
Shepherd Electric Supply, a leading wholesale distributor since 1892, headquartered in Baltimore with locations in Beltsville, MD, Northern Virginia, and Frederick, is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill an accounts receivable position at our Baltimore, MD location. This person will be responsible for the collection of past due accounts and resolving customer inquiries. In this role you will: Timely review of past due accounts to determine status and appropriate action Research disputed delinquent account balances and correct any errors in the Solar Eclipse system Negotiate with delinquent accounts to minimize collection activity potential Develop and maintain positive working relationships and partner with internal and external customers by providing superior customer service Setting up new accounts/job accounts Research and respond to correspondence Identify, verify, and document collection efforts and account adjustments according to established policy and procedure Collaborate with management to identify payer trends and non-payment issues Document past due accounts for monthly collection meetings with executive management. Light travel may be required (less than 10%) What you bring to the table: Working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Act and State and Federal laws concerning collection activities Working knowledge of Lein releases Proficiency in Microsoft Office Effective and pleasant communicator (written and verbal) Organized and able to meet deadlines Attention to detail Team player High School Diploma, some college with an accounting background preferred 2+ years' experience in an office environment with direct customer support and collections experience Basic understanding of accounting and math skills Construction law knowledge a plus Shift and Hours: Monday - Friday; 8 am to 5 pm Compensation Details: The expected compensation for this role starts at $38.50 per hour depending on experience.
