The TC2 Student Technician provides support to the TC2 and its users. The duties of the TC2 Student Technician will include performing warp maintenance and assisting with warp winding. The Student Technician will communicate and interface with the Studio Manager, Research Technician, and the TC2 faculty. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform a weekly checklist of equipment cleaning and maintenance Document and communicate any issues with the TC2, related tools, the TC2 calendar, and S103 to the Fiber Studio Manager and the TC2 faculty in a timely manner Demonstrate warp maintenance to students within weekly work hours Assist with and/or complete weekly or bi-weekly warp cut-offs and tie-ons Document woven yardage amounts for TC2 weavers in a shared spreadsheet; the spreadsheet is shared with staff and faculty Maintain stock of weaving name tags, organize yarn, and tidy S103 Assist in sectional warping and warp tie-on for TC2 each semester Assist faculty in recording technical videos for TC2 users Assist Research Technician with loom maintenance and prep tasks Perform other relevant duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good mechanical sensibility Attention to detail Strong organizational skills Sensitive to student needs Ability to communicate with the studio community of students, faculty, and staff in a timely manner Ability to demonstrate proper warp maintenance and troubleshooting techniques to TC2 users Proficient in Adobe Photoshop Minimum Qualifications:
Current MICA student Previous work experience Excellent communication skills Have floor loom weaving experience Demonstrated practical understanding of responsible TC2 use and warp maintenance Preferred Qualifications:
