Part-Time Event Technology and Operations Coordinator
You'll be responsible for the setup, operation, and breakdown of technical and non-technical equipment for events held on the Mason Square campus. You will also serve as one of the onsite shift supervisors providing direction and guidance to event support staff.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the Audio-Visual Manager by having excellent working knowledge of all AV systems in Van Metre Hall event venues, including the setup and support of various live streaming platforms;
- Responds to and troubleshoot technical issues and provide user support during an event when required;
- Verifies that all equipment requested for events is set in the exact manner as described on the set-up report (unless otherwise directed) this will involve the setting of tables and chairs and audio-visual equipment in accordance with reservation requests;
- Maintains order in all storerooms and ensure that aisles and mechanical equipment areas are kept clear of equipment;
- Assists Event Manager(s) with their program needs while enforcing User Responsibilities of GMU-Arlington; and
- Identifies maintenance discrepancies and/or damages within event space and forward them to the Event Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a high school graduate;
- Possess outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with a diverse audience, including current university faculty and staff, alumni, donors, students, and the community;
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends;
- Must be able to safely and independently move items up to 50 pounds;
- Must have excellent verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Possesses a strong customer service, time management and organizational skillset with high attention to detail; and
- Understanding of audio/visual equipment used to support events and multimedia applications, visual/audio hardware configuration, conference A/V set-ups, streaming platforms, and knowledge of electronics used to support events, and a willingness to learn new skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least six-months experience working in an Audio/Visual tech support capacity;
- Familiarity with higher education; and
- Willingness to learn A/V and multimedia applications, conference A/V set-ups, and streaming tools and platforms.
