AVP / VP

Currently working with a firm looking for a AVP / VP of VC Life Sciences out of either SF or Boston. They are a leading venture capital firm focused on transformative investments across the life sciences sector. With a track record of backing category-defining companies in therapeutics, diagnostics, and enabling technologies. The team combines deep scientific expertise with operational and financial acumen, and we are expanding our investment leadership team. Role Overview We are seeking a Vice President to join our investment team in either San Francisco or Boston. This individual will play a critical role in sourcing, evaluating, and executing new investments, as well as supporting portfolio companies. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in life sciences, a strategic mindset, and a passion for company building. Key Responsibilities Lead diligence efforts on new investment opportunities, including scientific, clinical, market, and financial analysis. Develop and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, academic institutions, and industry experts. Support deal structuring, negotiation, and execution. Serve as a board observer or advisor to portfolio companies, providing strategic guidance and operational support. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive value creation across the portfolio. Contribute to firm-wide initiatives including fundraising, thought leadership, and team development. Qualifications Advanced degree (PhD or MD) in life sciences, medicine, or related field. 5-10 years of experience in venture capital, biotech business development, strategy consulting, or investment banking with a life sciences focus. Deep understanding of drug development, clinical strategy, and market dynamics in biotech. Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and present it clearly. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities. Entrepreneurial mindset and collaborative spirit.
