Director of Business Development
to lead commercial growth efforts across the West Coast. This role is responsible for driving strategic client relationships, with an emphasis on
complex oral solid dosage (OSD) forms. Key Responsibilities: Proactively identify and engage new biotech and pharma clients requiring support in
small
molecule drug development and manufacturing, with emphasis on: Complex OSD (e.g., modified-release, multilayer tablets, capsules) High-potency APIs (HPAPI) Early-phase to commercial-scale production Tech transfer, scale-up, and analytical services Build and nurture long-term relationships with decision-makers in R&D, technical operations, procurement, and CMC functions Develop and execute territory-specific business development plans aligned with organizational goals Lead the end-to-end sales process, from opportunity generation through proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure Act as a strategic liaison between potential clients and internal technical SMEs to ensure alignment of client needs with capabilities Attend industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote services and expand market presence Maintain accurate CRM documentation and sales reporting Continuously monitor market trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for differentiation Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field; advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) is a plus 5+ years
of experience in B2B sales or business development within the
CDMO or pharmaceutical sector Demonstrated success in selling
small molecule
drug development and manufacturing services Technical fluency in the
oral solid dosage development process , including formulation, analytical, and manufacturing workflows Existing network of industry contacts across biotech hubs in California and the broader West Coast Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills
