TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Manager of Equipment in San Francisco, CA to join our team. The pay range for this position is $109,500 - $128,750. Duties and Responsibilities: *This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Reporting directly to the Deputy General Manager, the Manager of Equipment has the overall responsibility and accountability for the safe performance of all aspects of passenger rolling stock maintenance with the authority to represent TASI on equipment maintenance program related issues. Carry out responsibilities following Company policies, contractual requirements and applicable laws and regulations. Perform all duties with proper safety and security standards to ensure the prompt delivery of clean, well maintained, and reliable equipment for daily service. Interface with local and nationwide Herzog/TASI employees and outside vendors, reporting agencies, client (JPB) and Corporate Headquarters personnel, organizations and/or government entities with jurisdiction over maintenance of equipment operations. Warranty administration of commuter rail equipment and materials. Operate and provide general housekeeping of JPB owned equipment maintenance facilities, equipment, and tooling. Reporting obligations to JPB, regulatory entities and internally are accurate, complete, and prompt. Oversight of all shop and yard activities and direct function’s including placement of trains on yard tracks, movement of equipment within the yard and instruction of road and pin-up crews on equipment movements that may not be performed by maintenance personnel. Review analysis of activities, costs, operations, and trends to decide department progress toward stated goals and objectives. Develop, implement, maintain, and provide oversight of the maintenance of equipment training/mentoring programs/personnel. This includes documenting and reporting these activities in a timely manner. Responsible for daily MOE reports and incident resolutions, audit and inspection of work orders/inspection dates/maintenance schedules. Inspect hazardous waste accumulation and storage, ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. 5-7 years of leadership experience in mechanical field, railroad experience preferred. Familiar knowledge of FRA and CPUC regulations. Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements. Ability to calculate figures, amounts, and apply concepts of complex mathematics. Background with transportation methods, process improvement programs, and procedures required. Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills. Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly. Strong mechanical aptitude with a superior working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Requires strong supervisory skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and/or situations. Ability to read and interpret documents and to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups of client or employees of organization. Ability to assume a natural leadership role for all employees. Proficiency and advanced skills in using the Microsoft Office, i.e., PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Outlook MS Word and MS Projects. Pre-Employment Requirements: Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review. Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position. Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job. Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force. Able to walk on uneven surfaces. Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs. Regularly sit and stand for an extended period. Regularly kneel, bend, and squat. Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position. Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals. Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
