Maintenance of Way Training Specialist
in
Menlo Park, CA
to join our team. The pay range for this position is $115,000 - $130,000 annually. Duties and Responsibilities: *This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Develop, schedule, and present all RWP training as requested by the Client. Monitor and measure the training process to update instructional materials and ensure effectiveness. Facilitate training to maximize employee learning. Maintain a database of Roadway Worker and Machine Operator Qualifications and ensure contractors are not working with outdated training. Ensure RWP compliance of all contractors working on Capital projects on Caltrain property. Support and participate in safety group activities/meetings. Develop, schedule, and present all training and development programs for Maintenance of Way employees, including but not limited to new hire training, annual rules training, and training on relevant regulations. Represent the safety department in all interactions with other departments and maintain consistent safety messaging with those departments. Assist with internal accident and incident investigations, implement/document corrective actions, and provide enhanced training. Provide an annual training plan, quarterly training progress report, and mid-year training completion plan. Participate in efficiency testing, including but not limited to joint testing and testing with FRA/CPUC/regulatory agencies. Continuously update training to reflect recent incidents and trends related to Part 217 failures. Implement TASI standards, rules, and processes in response to regulatory requirements (e.g., FRA Safety Advisories) and in response to corrective actions from internal investigations. Participate and document all training and internal and field audits within the Maintenance of Way department, providing results in a timely manner. Occasional night work, along with on-call weekend incident reporting on a rotating basis Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. An associate’s degree in education, business, or closely related field (can be substituted with 3 years railroad experience). Five years in railroad construction and maintenance preferred. Experience in education, training, and/or mentoring peers, preferably in a commuter rail environment. Pre-Employment Requirements: Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review. Maintain valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position. Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job. Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force. Able to walk on uneven surfaces. Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs. Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time. Regularly kneel, bend, and squat. Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position. Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals. Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery. Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
