SUMMARY:

The Microsoft Systems Engineer's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the Microsoft systems and devices that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked and cloud software and associated operating systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Microsoft Systems Analysis

Work with executive team members, decision-makers, and stakeholders to define District requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve systems issues. Deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems. Provide support and configuration of existing systems including but not limited to Azure, Intune, Active Directory, and SCCM; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. Perform server and system audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with department disaster recovery and continuity strategies. Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems. Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications. Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems. Manage, troubleshoot, and support Apple devices and Apple infrastructure. Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports. Assist with the management of device deployment for all Apple devices. Records, Reports, Policy, and Law

Maintain confidentiality. Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents. Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research. Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives. Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures. Perform other duties, as assigned by the immediate supervisor, Director of Technology Systems or Chief Technology Officer, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of district applications and software QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science or related field MCSA Certification (preferred) Experience:

Three (3) to Five (5) years of successful experience in the IT industry Public school district experience (preferred). Experience working with server technologies preferred Experience with Server 2012, 2016 and 2019 SPECIAL KNOWLEGDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Excellent hardware and software troubleshooting skills Familiarity with Microsoft, and MDM environments Basic network troubleshooting skills with LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity Ability to summarize complex technical issues both orally and in writing, and to justify recommendations for large-scale network changes and implementations. Ability to review and approve testing and implementation plans for proposed solutions. Ability to problem-solve information technology networks, systems, and applications as it applies to projects. Ability to work with systems, networks, and other groups in Technology Support Services to effectively communicate changes and technical problems to get them resolved in a timely manner. Ability to develop and implement procedures, goals, and objectives Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of processes of varying levels of complexity and develop changes or alternatives Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for evaluating project needs and implementation timelines. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
