Apprenticeship Coordinator
The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center is seeking applicants to fill an Apprenticeship Coordinator position. This is a full-time/salaried position with benefits. The Apprenticeship Coordinator plays a vital role in apprenticeship program support and growth in the Southwest Virginia region. This position involves promoting and expanding apprenticeship initiatives by collaborating with employers, higher education institutions, workforce and economic development directors and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: Employer Engagement: Act as the main contact for employers, supporting them in program development and the registration processes to become an apprenticeship program sponsor. Outreach: Conduct targeted outreach to both potential apprentices and employers to build awareness of the benefits of apprenticeship and increased engagement in apprenticeship opportunities. Program Support: Provide technical and administrative support across all areas of the program, ensuring smooth communication and record-keeping. Collaboration: Work closely with higher education institutions and/or other educational partners to coordinate related technical instruction (RTI) scheduling and delivery. Research and Evaluation: Conduct research on best practices and regional workforce needs to inform program expansion and improvement. Customer Service: Ensure exceptional service to employer partners and potential apprentices, facilitating institutional processes with minimal hassle. By actively engaging with both apprenticeship candidates and employers, the coordinator contributes significantly to the growth and success of apprenticeship opportunities in the region. The incumbent may also be asked to instruct or facilitate relevant related courses or learning opportunities, as appropriate. The incumbent will also perform other related duties in the furtherance of the Center's educational and workforce development mission. Minimum Qualifications: Work experience delivering training in a business industry environment or experience developing or supporting economic and workforce development programs. Experience demonstrating the ability to be nimble and responsive to industry needs. Experience demonstrating strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide effective customer service to diverse constituents. Ability to effectively manage projects from concept development through program implementation. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Ability to demonstrate attention to detail. Experience demonstrating time management skills, the ability to respond to changing priorities, and the ability to prioritize workload in a deadline driven environment. Ability to conduct research, draw sound conclusions, and report findings. Experience demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as work appropriately in team environment exhibiting cooperative working relationships and a positive attitude. Experience communicating orally with demonstrated ability to make effective presentations to large audiences and experience demonstrating the ability to communicate in writing with demonstrated ability to prepare reports and other similar forms of documents. Excellent computer skills as evidenced by experience with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and being acquainted with data entry processing. Additional Considerations: Knowledge of apprenticeship program best practices and current topics Knowledge of higher education programs and other educational programming related to workforce training Knowledge of budget and resource management.
