Graphic Designer I

This entry-level graphic design role is key to producing high-quality interior layouts for a variety of publication projects. You will work closely with editorial and acquisition teams to ensure designs meet visual goals, budgets, and schedules while following accessibility guidelines. The position offers a collaborative environment with opportunities to develop skills in design software and layout techniques. Initially onsite for part of the week, the role also allows remote work after the first year. Attention to detail, creativity, and strong organizational skills are essential to contribute effectively to project success and team goals.
Accountabilities:
Design and lay out assigned publications using design software, incorporating feedback from colleagues and authors. Follow accessibility standards to ensure color and design meet current guidelines. Participate in project planning meetings to establish schedules and prepare materials. Create balanced page layouts and ensure proper placement of graphic elements. Make accurate corrections and updates during proof rounds, including indexing. Collaborate with internal teams to minimize late-stage layout changes. Coordinate with external publishing partners and freelancers, reviewing their work and providing feedback. Prepare final project files for printing and create reprint and ebook PDFs as required. Archive completed projects and organize design files following company storage guidelines. Take on additional tasks such as rights management, custom ebooks, and watermarking when assigned. Requirements
Associate's Degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred; relevant experience or portfolio may be considered. Minimum 1 year of design experience with typography, color theory, and page design, preferably in publishing or through internships. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to manage multiple projects independently. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and conceptual thinking. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Competitive salary range of $40,500 - $58,000, with starting salary based on experience.
