Job Duties:

This position will be split supporting General Education Administration and Finance and Administrative Affairs, responsible for monitoring financial activities and reconciling the monthly financials for these units. Some of the units in these divisions include Marketing Communications & University Relations, Office of the Chancellor, Secretary of the University, University Advancement, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Business and Financial Services, Human Resources and Facility Services. In addition, this role will be responsible for creating and distributing financial reports for some of these units. This position requires attention to detail, a thorough understanding of fund accounting, and knowledge of Universities of Wisconsin and UWM financial rules.

Job responsibilities include:

Organizing, preparing, and updating basic financial statements, monthly and year-end journal entries, accounts, ledgers, and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions

Preparing and analyzing financial data, reports and records, identifying discrepancies. Investigating, recommending, and implementing basic solutions as needed

Assist with accounting and reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and reports

Answering questions and providing accounting related information to internal and external stakeholders

Assisting in preparing budgets and financial projections

Preparing and/or approving financial transactions and payments

Completing monthly internal billing and reconciliation related to internal campus charges

Hybrid work options may be available. Work will be performed primarily on the UW-Milwaukee campus, with requests for remote work considered after the initial training period.

Compensation:

$50,000 to $58,000/annually. Salary will be determined by finalist's experience, training, education, and equity-based factors.

Required Qualifications:

Technical diploma, associate's degree, or higher in accounting, business, finance, or another related field

Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year of Accounting experience

Experience with Fund Accounting

Budgeting experience

Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting

Experience in a Higher Education setting

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including creating and maintaining spreadsheets

Experience working with Enterprise Management Systems (for example, Peoplesoft, Workday, or something similar)

Customer service experience
