Senior Mechanical Designer / Checker
We are seeking experienced Senior Mechanical Designers/Checkers with proficiency in CATIA and a strong background in Body-in-White (BIW) tooling fixture design. The role involves developing and reviewing detailed mechanical designs, coordinating with engineering teams, and ensuring adherence to customer and industry standards. Responsibilities
Develop and review detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, fixtures, tools, and controls. Design and modify existing 3D and 2D models for kits and create new designs. Apply fixture and detail stack-up methodology. Ensure compliance with customer specifications and NAAMS standards. Coordinate with technical leaders and engineers to resolve design issues. Coordinate with vendors and integrate purchased components. Utilize CAD platforms including CATIA and NX. Participate in team meetings and travel for installation/start-up support. Essential Skills
5+ years of mechanical design and engineering experience in Powertrain or equivalent. Approximately 4 years of experience in BIW tooling fixture design/checking. Proficiency in NX CAD software. Knowledge of GM manufacturing standards. Strong understanding of Body Assembly geometry and fixture tools. Experience with auto assembly strategies and GEO/Respot systems. Proficiency in CATIA. Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience. Ability to work independently and within teams. Ability to travel domestically (520%) and internationally as needed. Understanding of mechanical design sequences and controls documentation. Ability to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems. Knowledge of design techniques and production documentation. Troubleshooting mechanical errors. Experience with CAD check options and attributes. Experience with vendor coordination and purchased components integration. Work Environment
This position offers hybrid flexibility with a structured schedule of four days onsite and one day remote. The work environment is fast-paced and supportive, providing opportunities for both domestic and international travel to support project execution and field validation. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and project stakeholders, driving innovation in automotive body shop tooling. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
