Position Summary:

Applied Training Solutions, LLC is seeking a Communications Unit Leader to oversee the planning, deployment, and operational management of communications systems during incident response operations. This role is responsible for developing communication plans, managing equipment distribution, and coordinating installation and testing to ensure seamless operational communications.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement plans for effective use of incident communications equipment and infrastructure

Manage the distribution, tracking, and inventory of communications equipment to incident personnel

Coordinate with technical teams for installation, testing, and maintenance of communication systems

Ensure the operational readiness of communication resources throughout the incident lifecycle

Provide leadership and coordination within the communications unit during activation

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure consistent connectivity

Document equipment assignments, usage logs, and maintenance actions

Collaborate with logistics and operations staff to ensure communications meet mission needs

Basic Qualifications:

3+ years of work experience in communications systems leadership or coordination roles

Proven experience developing and managing communication plans for field operations

Strong technical understanding of communication systems and infrastructure

Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced, dynamic environments

Must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting disaster response or emergency communications operations

Familiarity with radio, satellite, VOIP, and mobile communication tools

Knowledge of ICS communications roles and emergency management frameworks

Ability to lead a team and coordinate logistics in emergency environments

Performance Location: On-site while on assignment (location TBD)

Travel Required: Yes - up to 100% while on assignment

Working Environment:

Work is performed in emergency operations centers (EOCs), field locations, and logistical hubs. Extended hours and travel may be required throughout the continental United States and its territories during emergency response operations.
