The Advanced Manufacturing Company of America (“Amca”) is a legacy business, built for the future. We’re putting engineers back in charge of aerospace and defense and rapidly delivering what the industry needs next. Overview: As our first software engineer, you will design and implementproducts to reduce cost and lead time for every aspect of Amca and its acquired companies’ operations, including design, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, and back-office functions. Responsibilities: Design and implement custom software solutions that achieve cost and lead time reduction across all areas of Amca’s business. Example functional areas and potential projects include (not exhaustive): Engineering Play a role in selecting, implementing, and if needed, creating the tools engineers use to design new products and re-design existing products, including if relevant, auto-generating drawings and automating repetitive CAD tasks

Stand up a system for engineering design data storage to ensure Amca can be best in class at new product design

Develop and implement systems to help catalog and organize requirement data across our entire product catalog

Be a technical lead in setting Amca’s system approach to design technology, including for example creating and implementing engineering change management systems

Manufacturing Create and implement systems to collect and analyze productivity data, quality metrics, test results, unit cost data, and other operational metrics

Visualize data via dashboards to drive actionable insights to improve operations

Streamline integration of operational data from manufacturing subsidiaries into Amca, in a way that delivers clear and standardized analytics across our subsidiaries

Assist with ERP/MRP system selection, customization, and implementation at subsidiary companies

Prototyping Work with the engineering team to develop and implement software to speed up prototyping at our in-house fabrication shop, including indexing and organizing past prototype jobs allowing for part and design re-use, linking prototypes to design requirements, and integrating simple DFM checks into our design process

Work with in-house prototyping resources to streamline low volume prototyping operations, including for example automating the creation of part specific inspection sheets

Testing Develop and implement systems to collect, store, and analyze test data from our in-house test facility

Develop software to support test automation for in-process functional checks

Back-office operations Work with purchasing and inventory control teams to develop software solutions for inventory management, demand planning, and purchasing

Develop software solutions to automate as many aspects of purchasing and logistics as practical, including purchase order creation, compliance report creation, generation of export paperwork, and tracking of inbound/outbound shipments

Develop and implement systems to streamline financial data collection and reporting from subsidiaries

Develop and implement systems to streamline sales processes and customer interactions, including quote generation, development of budgetary cost estimates, and providing real-time status updates to customers regarding their orders

Qualifications: A track record of developing and implementing custom solutions using software and data analytics to streamline operations

A track record of using first principles to question requirements and drive efficiencies

Experience with software development and implementation to improve efficiency in operational settings

Experience implementing lean practices or other continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste and reduce cost

Strong programming ability in one or more core programming languages (Python, Javascript, SQL, C#) plus an ability to pick up additional languages as needed

Plus: experience with avionics manufacturing, integration, and/or test
