Job Summary:
Classify cloth according to first or second quality.
Essential Functions: Perform the following duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards: Visually check fabric sent to regrade and determine extent of non-conformance. Repair defects, if possible. Classify cloth according to first or second quality and send it to the appropriate storage area. Record final yardage on tickets for both first quality goods and seconds. Give allowance for defects shipped in first quality according to ATMI standards. Record and charge second quality fabric to responsible shift and weaver. Assist in inventory control and proper product flow. Help inspectors make decisions regarding questionable cloth. Enter data on the computer. Report problems in keeping proper product flow to shift supervisor. Audit contract and international rolls before shipping. Serve as backup to other employees when necessary. Follow instructions. Work scheduled overtime. Safety:
Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers. Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately. Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards. Maintain 5S standards. Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Heavy lifting required. Knowledge of inspection, quality control, plating, post inspection, cloth grading, and bagging required. Knowledge of defect ticket system required. Computer skills required - be able to track rolls in all stages of production and check pattern repeats, fillings, and warps. Ability to calculate and record shift production reports. Pass color blindness test in order to assist in identification of correct warp and filling shades. Basic knowledge of finishing processes. Sunday work and unscheduled overtime required. Performance evaluation of above average or better.
