Marketing And Communications Graduate Student Assistant
The hiring department is Global Engagement. This position is open to all applicants and is expected to continue until December 31, 2025. The position is part-time with 20 weekly scheduled hours and is non-exempt. It is available immediately at UT Main Campus. The purpose of this position is to provide support in researching, writing, and editing content for the website, blogs, and social media channels of Texas Global. The ideal candidate will also assist in managing and updating content on the website using Drupal and WordPress CMS. Responsibilities include coordinating student blog programs, writing and publishing social media content related to blogs, supporting the digital project manager in making content updates to Texas Global web properties, uploading stories and accompanying visual content on the Texas Global website, conducting research, interviewing sources, and writing feature stories about various international and global topics, keeping track of story status and logging stories in the editorial calendar using Excel spreadsheet and Asana project management software, and assisting in writing, researching, and editing other related projects as assigned. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism, creative writing, or a related field 2+ years of experience writing and publishing for the web Strong written communication skills in English, including knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation Proficiency in AP style and Microsoft Office applications Familiarity with Asana project management software Basic understanding of SEO, web content best practices, and social media best practices Ability to communicate effectively with international students, faculty, staff, and external contacts Detail-oriented, proactive, and highly organized with the ability to multitask Positive attitude and collaborative mindset Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Drupal, WordPress, or other CMS Familiarity with Asana project management software Familiarity with social media and Hootsuite publishing software Knowledge of HTML Previous experience working in a marketing, design, or creative services department Experience working with international populations Cross-cultural competency and proficiency in a foreign language $20.00 an hour Working Conditions
