Overview:
Our client, a prominent research facility in Morrisville, NC with a focus on plant research and greenhouse operations, is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to join their facilities team. This role starts with team-based support and will transition into more independent work over time. It's a hands-on position ideal for someone with HVAC experience who thrives in a safety-conscious, maintenance-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems
• Respond to and complete assigned work orders efficiently
• Perform light electrical tasks, especially related to HVAC equipment
• Maintain high safety standards at all times while working in and around sensitive research equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair general building systems
• Use internal systems to document completed work and track requests

Qualifications:
Experience:

• 4-5 years of experience in HVAC or general building maintenance

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Trade school or technical training preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

• EPA 608 / Universal / CFC Certification highly preferred

Software Skills:

• Basic computer skills for work order management and reporting

Must-Have Skills:

• Solid hands-on HVAC experience
• Excellent safety practices and awareness
• Basic troubleshooting and general maintenance abilities

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Well-rounded knowledge of building systems (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
• Experience working in research or greenhouse environments

Work Environment:

• Onsite at a research facility with large plants and greenhouse operations
• Will begin working with a team and transition into a more independent role
