Cochener Garvey Capital Partners, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to join our small but dynamic corporate office of 10 employees. In this role, you'll provide essential support in accounts payable and general accounting functions, helping ensure smooth financial operations across our diverse group of operating companies. § Reviews and processes vendor invoices for CGCPI and subsidiary Companies.
§ Completes AP payments by check or schedules ACH and wire transfer payments through online banking.
§ Reviews and verifies employee expense and credit card reports in Concur. Finalizes and submits reports for payment.
§ Communicates with vendors and internal customers regarding AP inquiries.
§ Maintains current and historical AP records in accounting systems.
§ Prepares 1099's annually.
§ Assists in preparation of monthly general journal entries and financial statements/reports as needed.
§ Assists with monthly reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
§ Identifies opportunities to improve processes and recommends solutions.
§ Provides occasional secondary backup support for payroll processing.
§ Assumes other responsibilities as needed to support team or departmental goals.
Requirements
§ 2+ years Accounting Assistant experience, with emphasis in Accounts Payable duties.
§ Knowledge of accounting principles.
§ Strong Microsoft Office Suite experience, with emphasis on Excel proficiency.
§ Experience with accounting software and online banking platforms.
§ Organizational skills and the ability to work with interruptions.
§ High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
§ Effective communication and customer service.
§ Sound judgment, discretion, and ability to hold confidential information.
§ Initiative and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred but not required: Experience in multi-entity accounting, QuickBooks Online, Concur, DocuWare, or payroll processing is a plus.
Education or Certifications: Associate's degree in Accounting is preferred.
