Aquatics Director - Green (Finance)
POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Aquatics Director will oversee the Aquatics Department and related programs, including Swim Lessons, Recreational Swimming, and Group Rentals across all aquatic facilities at the Y. Responsibilities include leading safety initiatives, staff hiring, training, and supervision. The role may also involve serving as a program director for non-aquatics programs as assigned. Hire, train, and supervise lifeguards, swim instructors, and other aquatic staff. Plan, prepare, and deliver safe, quality aquatic programs for youth and adults. Hold regular in-service trainings for all aquatic staff. Assist with pool maintenance and repairs as needed. Implement and enforce YMCA policies and procedures. Assist in planning and preparing brochures and schedules. Develop and control the budget for the aquatic department. Evaluate programs regularly, adjusting offerings to meet community needs. Support and work with swim teams. Develop a positive public image through impactful aquatic programs. Maintain current certifications for self and staff. Engage and support volunteer involvement. Effective problem solving with timely follow-up. Develop staff schedules ensuring all shifts are covered. Promptly respond to voicemails and emails within 24 business hours. Purchase equipment and supplies within the budget. Participate in staff meetings and association events. Serve on Director on Duty rotation. Host quarterly First Aid/CPR certification classes. Engage with members and program participants, collecting impact stories annually. Ensure safety of staff and members, following all relevant standards and guidelines. Support and assist branch leadership with other projects, including Annual Support. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent preferred. Experience in aquatics and supervision preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills. Experience in program development, volunteer work, financial development, and customer service. Certifications: American Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen (preferred), LGI or WSI (preferred), YSLI (preferred), CPO certification. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to work in and around water for extended periods, communicate verbally with groups and individuals, and perform all lifeguard skills. Ability to lift equipment and assist distressed swimmers is required. Must remain alert and observant, able to recognize distress signals, and work in warm, humid environments.
