Innovation and Technology Department

Mainframe Database Administrator*

to maintain a variety of computer systems and assist with system support, database design and administration for the Innovation and Technology Department (ITD)This position requires specialized types of expertise in Database Administration, Systems Programming, and Application Support. Key responsibilities may include: Assist in the installation, implementation, testing, and tuning of IMS and DB2 Database and Transaction systems. Database support for application developers. Assist in Maintenance and tuning of backup and recovery processes for IMS and DB2 Disaster Recovery preparedness. Assist in maintaining IMS virtualization mapping for IBM Data Virtualization Manager (DVM). Candidates must meet BOTH the Experience and Education requirements to qualify.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Three (3) years of work experience, within the last ten (10) years, working as an IMS and/or DB2 database administrator in a z/OS environment.

Must have experience with the following:

Database monitoring tool (Such as Mainview, Omegamon, etc.) IMS system administration using IMS consoles, JCL, DL/1, DFSDDLTO, backup and restore, database reorganization and Pointer Checker. Development lifecycle, Program Specification Block (PSB) generation, Copybooks templates, and Message Format Service (MFS). DB2 system administration on zOS using native DB2 utilities, stored procedures, backup and restore, cloning of databases, and database reorganization. DB2 support on zOS such as troubleshooting issues, reviewing the need for PTFs, assisting developers with troubleshooting DB2 performance issues. -AND-

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Thirty (30) semester/(45 quarter) units of completed, post high-school coursework from an accredited university or technical school in Computer Science, or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application unless a degree in one of the listed fields has been conferred.

Substitutions:

An additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education. A bachelor's degree in computer science, or closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required years of experience. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, along with knowledge of/experience with the following:
