The offering has grown to include furniture, accessories, lighting, textiles, bespoke kitchens, and architectural products. The Director of Sales & Business Development leads the growth strategy for their assigned sales territory, focusing on new client acquisition, strategic account growth, and team development. As a senior leader, this role combines hands-on client relationship management with team leadership, performance analysis, and proactive market engagement. You'll work with a high degree of autonomy, with access to vendor relationships to support sales initiatives, share insights, and collaborate on market development. You'll also oversee a high-performing team of Sales Executives and support staff, providing direction, mentorship, and motivation to meet and exceed targets. Responsibilities Develop and execute sales strategies for new business development and client retention within assigned territory Proactively identify and cultivate relationships with leading A+D, commercial, hospitality, and residential firms Oversee the sales team pipeline, lead generation and conversions Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team, including Sales Executives and Client Experience Coordinators Set and track team and individual sales targets; monitor performance and provide regular reporting to senior leadership Analyze sales trends, client feedback, and competitive activity to inform territory strategy Collaborate with marketing and showroom teams to drive brand visibility and engagement in the market Represent Avenue Road at trade shows, events, and networking opportunities Serve as a liaison to vendors and brand partners; attend vendor meetings and quarterly business reviews to provide market feedback Stay current on product knowledge and ensure the team is equipped with training and tools to succeed Provide Sr. Management with quarterly reporting, strategy and results status. Requirements Minimum 10 years of experience in business development or sales leadership, ideally in luxury design or goods, furniture, or A+D industry Proven success leading high-performing sales teams and managing complex client accounts Strong understanding of the interior design process and project-based selling cycles Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Demonstrated strategic thinking, analytical ability, and comfort with reporting and KPIs Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with CRM systems or SAP is a strong asset Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; regular client visits required Ability to travel occasionally for vendor visits, trade shows, or internal meetings A second language is an asset.
