Engineer Sr
The Engineer Sr position holds the responsibility for the safe, reliable, and economic round-the-clock operation of the generation, electric transmission, and distribution systems. Duties include Engineering responsibilities for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation activities of our power plants, transmission lines, substations, distribution system, gas systems, control centers and others. These Engineering duties may include continuous monitoring and balancing of energy flow and responding to system disturbances, along with all generation, distribution, and transmission activities that provide electric and gas services to customers. Tasks and responsibilities include attending seminars, exhibiting the highest level of engineering judgment/technical expertise, coaching and mentoring junior engineers, ensuring the on-time, on-budget quality delivery of projects, dealing with complex issues and problems, providing demonstrated ability to train other engineers, and performing other project and process improvement initiatives. Minimum skills include comprehensive engineering experience, ability to oversee design work, technical expertise, effective communication skills, strong people skills, ability to work call duty and occasional unscheduled work, ability to travel occasionally, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Texas Professional Engineer (PE) certification. Preferred qualifications include a Masters degree from an accredited university. Competencies required include managing ambiguity, collaborating, communicating effectively, driving vision and purpose, and driving for results. Minimum education required is a Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited four-year college or university. The working environment includes operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Employee may potentially be exposed to hazardous chemicals, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, noisy and dusty environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. After hours work may be required. Physical demands include exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking & standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
