Dealing with clients on claims issues when appropriate, whilst effectively liaising with brokers, third parties, vendors and/or counsel in the adjustment of claims in line with company strategy and regulatory and legal compliance. Technical Claims Handling: Operate within your approved claims authority at all times. Adhere to Ambridge Claims Guidelines, Lloyd's Minimum Standards for Claims Management, applicable binding authority (BA) and service level agreements (SLA), with deviations occurring only with prior authorization by the relevant Head of Claims. Ensure claims are handled in accordance with local law/jurisdiction. Ensure strong working knowledge of policy forms and understand underwriting intent. Adequately gather and analyse sufficient information to make an appropriate liability decision. Ensure that potential recoveries from third parties are investigated and pursued where applicable. Ensure reserves for outstanding claims are set on a timely basis and based on best efforts and estimates, the appreciable facts and information available at the time and the likely outcome of the claim. Ensure that documentation is consistently contained in the file and adequately support the loss and expense payments made. Process referrals and work with business partners when matters are referred to reach best outcomes. Apply basic principles of good practice. Assist with effective reporting, selecting essential, relevant criteria and information to provide to the Executive Management, Claims Management, and Underwriters. Negotiate with both internal and external parties to a claim, managing risk and ensuring an effective outcome for the customer and Ambridge. Liaise with Defense Attorneys when appropriate to manage case litigation. Maintain accurate claims records to ensure regulatory compliance. Undertake any ad hoc or project work as necessary to aid delivery of Ambridge Claims strategic team objectives. Travel on behalf of the Company to maintain insured/broker relationships, attend mediations, conferences or other matters, as requirements arise.
