Teaching Assistant Positions
The West Seneca Central School District has anticipated vacancies for Teaching Assistants at the Elementary level. These are full-time, probationary appointments for positions supporting both Kindergarten and Pre-K class settings. Primary Function: The Teaching Assistant is responsible for helping to create a safe, stimulating and nurturing learning environment and to assist every student in reaching his/her potential. The Teacher Assistant is to act as a positive role model for students and to strive for quality and promote pride in all District endeavors and to fulfill the Mission of the District. The Teacher Assistant job description is based on the Criteria for Effective Teaching (CET) and will include the following domains/factors: + Planning and preparation; collaborating with classroom teachers to provide instructional supports + Knowledge of PBIS and implementing positive, effective management strategies + Experience utilizing Google Classroom, including a variety of applications to enhance instructional delivery + Interpreting and analyzing data The vacancies are full-time (1.0 FTE), probationary positions effective immediately. Salary and benefits (Health & Dental), paid according to the West Seneca Teachers Association collective bargaining agreement, will be offered to the selected candidates. Job Qualifications The successful candidate must hold NYS certification. Experience in an elementary classroom setting and a literacy background is preferred but not required. Required Certification(s): Teaching Assistant (Levels I; II; or III) or certification in a NYS Part 30 tenure area Additional Certification(s) preferred: Elementary Education (Childhood and/or Early Childhood Education) Specialized Training + Common Core Learning Standards + Working With Children Technology Literacy + Experience Using Technology As An Instructional Tool + Google Docs + Google Apps for Education + Promethean Boards and Smart Boards + Microsoft Office Position Start Date: August 26, 2025 Application Deadline: August 12, 2025
