Chemical Engineer / Process Engineer
We have an immediate need for a Chemical Engineer / Process Engineer in the Lakeland, FL area. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks in chemical/process engineering serving our industrial clients. The candidate must have demonstrable knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of chemical engineering and exercise independent judgment in the performance of the position's objective. Job Duties: Prepare mass and energy balances, block and process flow diagrams (BFDs and PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). MUST HAVE Prepare design basis, operational procedures, control narratives, and commissioning plans for industrial systems and processes. MUST HAVE Prepare calculations for process equipment sizing and specifications, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers and evaporators, filters and other separation equipment, mixers, reactors, and storage vessels. MUST HAVE Perform analyses using manual calculations or computer-aided engineering software. Analyze chemical process operational and experimental data using statistical methods and mathematical models for presentation in technical reports. Prepare and review technical reports and documents. Prepare front-end-loading (FEL) studies and process equipment takeoffs for construction cost estimates. Perform construction support tasks, such as shop drawing review, RFI responses, installation inspections, and commissioning plan execution. Work on job sites to gather information or make construction observations. Provide support in the preparation of engineering estimates and proposals. Communicate with discipline leads and coworkers for consistency in design. Report to project manager on estimated time-to-complete and project status updates. Exhibit self-discipline and self-motivation. Maintain organized schedule for completing multiple projects simultaneously and on time. Maintain professional working relationships and a positive outlook toward new challenges. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from an accredited university is a must Engineer Intern (EI) certificate is a plus Professional Engineer (PE) in Chemical Engineering is a plus 5+ years of experience of engineering design in industrial chemical processing facilities. Thorough knowledge of chemical process principles, including basic and physical chemistry, unit operations, heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, fluid dynamics (MUST HAVE), plant design and control, and engineering economics. Thorough knowledge of pipe flow modeling and control valve sizing is a MUST Thorough knowledge of PRV/PSV sizing and design basis analysis Thorough knowledge of heat exchanger modeling and sizing. Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus Able to work with limited information and to formulate assumptions to develop safe and effective designs. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent self-organization. Strong work ethic. Pay: $40-$60/hr.
