Assistant Director Of Financial Aid

Organization in the education sector is seeking an energetic and innovative Assistant Director of Financial Aid to support students and their families in navigating federal, state, private, and institutional financial aid opportunities. This role plays a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance, providing individualized financial counseling, and facilitating access to educational funding. Location: Albany, NY Position Model: Direct Hire/Permanent Position Compensation: Up to $60,500 starting salary Benefits Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive financial aid counseling to prospective and current students via in-person meetings, phone, and email. Conduct needs analysis, verification, SAP review, and loan certification to determine financial aid eligibility. Guide students and parents through federal, state, and private loan options including Parent PLUS, Grad PLUS, and alternative loans. Administer and manage institutional and external scholarship opportunities, including application review and tracking. Maintain timely and accurate student records, follow up on missing documentation, and process aid in Jenzabar and related systems. Collaborate with the Admissions, Registrar, Business Office, and academic advisors to ensure students' aid eligibility aligns with enrollment. Present financial aid information during orientations, recruitment events, and high school or community outreach efforts. Remain current on financial aid regulations through training, webinars, and professional development. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, psychology, communications, or related field. Experience in college financial aid administration. Strong understanding of financial aid regulations and processes, including COD, NSLDS, CPS, and HESC. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a commitment to student service. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn college systems and databases.
