The Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking candidates for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I position. This classified position offers an annual salary of $39,100.00 and is located in St. Thomas/St. John, VI. The position number is 201902141 and is under the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority-STT. The application deadline is continuous until filled. The role involves a variety of duties essential to the operation of a major wastewater treatment, disposal, and reclamation facility. This includes inspecting, operating, monitoring, and maintaining facilities, equipment, and systems involved in the wastewater treatment plant. It also includes performing chemical analysis and tests, and ensuring the facility's final effluent is of the best quality to protect downstream receiving waters and their users. Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by college-level coursework or trade school training in wastewater treatment technology. Additionally, two years of experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of machinery, pumps, or mechanical equipment, including one year in a wastewater treatment plant, are required.
