Police Clerk Matron

(Afternoon Shift)

supporting the operations of the Records Division within the Tinley Park Police Department. The Tinley Park Police Department has more than 150 employees split into four Police Operational Divisions: Administration, Patrol, Investigations, and Special Programs. The police department also is responsible for Crime Prevention, the Crime Free Rental Housing Program, National Night Out, the Citizen's Police Academy and the Radar Loan Program. Key Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include entering and compiling data of criminal incidents, copying documents, updating various documents and schedules, answering telephones and routing calls, greeting visitors, composing basic correspondence, filing reports, and entering data into the computer system; performing routine record and file maintenance, retention, storage, and destruction in accordance with State law; and accepting and documenting bonds, parking fines, and other basic financial transactions.

This position also assists Police Officers and the public by searching files, reports, and other records and providing information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. When appropriate, act as a matron to ensure the security of female prisoners, which may include conducting pat downs and full-body searches and may occasionally monitor prisoners in police custody, alarms, and other security cameras. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

A high school diploma is required, an Associate's degree is preferred. A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years records management, customer service, data processing or law enforcement experience is also required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required. Law Enforcement Agencies Data Systems (LEADS) with less than full access certified or must successfully complete within six months of hire.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to multi-task, familiar with police records operations and/or recording keeping protocols, and dedicated to the needs of the Records Division. They must be able to take appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines, demonstrate excellent customer service, communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Must maintain a professional attitude and physical appearance appropriate for daily public contact. They will be able to deal tactfully and effectively with a variety of people in difficult maintain the highest level of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive matters. Additional Information

IMMEDIATE VACANCY FOR AFTERNOON SHIFT SCHEDULED TO WORK FROM 4:00PM TO 12:00AM.

Must be available for various shifts day, afternoon, midnight, weekends, and holidays to support the 24/7 operations of the police department.
