Part-Time Certified Medical Assistant/Receptionist

The Part-Time Certified Medical Assistant/Receptionist at Brooklyn Gastroenterology at 2952 Brighton 3rd Street, Suite 205, Brooklyn, NY plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services. This position is responsible for providing exceptional patient care while managing administrative tasks that support the clinical team. The ideal candidate will facilitate patient interactions, assist with medical procedures, and maintain accurate patient records. By effectively coordinating between patients and healthcare providers, this role directly contributes to the overall patient experience and satisfaction. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant/Receptionist will help foster a welcoming environment that prioritizes patient health and well-being. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). Experience in a gastroenterology or similar healthcare/office setting. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems. Experience with EKG and blood draws. Basic knowledge or HIPPA regulations. Familiarity with insurances, copays, and eligibility verification. Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse patient population - Russian a plus. Responsibilities
Greet and check in patients, ensuring a positive first impression and efficient registration process. Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, including preparing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment. Manage patient records, including updating information and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. Schedule appointments, follow up on patient inquiries, and handle billing and insurance verification. Provide education to patients regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care as directed by healthcare providers. Answer multiple phone lines and assist with front desk tasks as needed. Multitask effectively in a busy office setting. Check insurance eligibility and benefits for services. Submit and follow up on prior authorizations for medications or procedures. Skills
