This position is responsible for collecting and verifying all documentation for the issuing of building permits for both residential and commercial development. Examples of duties include: Issuing building permits by receiving documentation for permit requests, verifying properties, researching zoning ordinances, and explaining them to the public. Record verification for permits, including parcel numbers, taxes paid, addresses, and building plans. Issuing other permits such as power permits, safety electrical permits, and Certificates of Occupancy. Providing customer service to address public questions or concerns regarding planning and development. Typical qualifications include: High school diploma and knowledge of land management regulations, building codes, and FEMA flood maps. One year of job-related experience. ICC certification for permit technicians.
