The Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Dean, Administration.
Responsibilities
This position reports directly to the Dean of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, serves as direct supervisor of senior staff in Dean's office, and provides oversight of financial, management, facilities, and administrative services for the College of Engineering. Supervises the Dean's office senior management team as outlined above (and has dotted line supervisory oversight of the UBA Assistant Director, Finance).
This position serves as the Assistant Dean, working directly with the Dean, Associate Deans, and department heads on issue resolution, resource requests, and long-term goals. Works with new and existing department heads and business managers ensure their understanding of university and college policies and procedures. Provides leadership and oversight for administrative and operational functions of the College of Engineering. Provides analysis and recommendations to the Dean on subjects related to administrative services, business operations, human resources, financial commitments, and strategic planning. Reviews expenditure and allocation data for all COE units and advises the Dean on required resources, discrepancies, and remediation plans. Works with the Dean to develop annual budget allocations to COE units and recommends the approval or denial of funds, including staff resources.
Responsible for the effective and efficient functioning of the college to advance both near-and long-term goals that includes directing, overseeing and coordinating designated aspects of the operations of the College; serves as primary liaison to other university offices at both FSU and FAMU; develops and implements policies and procedures related to best business practices and effective operation of all E&G units within the College of Engineering. Works with department heads and administrators to ensure financial and managerial compliance.
Responsible for oversight of staff hiring, training and setting performance standards. Provides oversight of all staff management within college/units on staff recruiting, training, and evaluation of A&P and USPS employees. Supervises the design and development of detailed financial, statistical, and academic reporting systems utilizing programs such as OMNI queries, Business Intelligence, Student Central, etc. Analyzes statistical, academic and/or financial reports used to determine resource allocations and to establish graduate enrollment goals. Responsible for College reporting or requests for information. Oversees or collect data to provide to the Dean and/or University Offices.
Analyzes, interprets, and disseminates information related to compliance. Provides guidance and direction to senior management involved with administrative services and programs, which may include business operations, event coordination, human resources, advancement activities, and organizational analysis. Develop and implement policies as needed for prudent management practices, compliance, and accountability. Interacts with university departments at both FSU and FAMU to ensure that all operations and administrative services are efficient, streamlined, and compliant with federal, state, and local laws and in compliance with university policies. Directs policy and procedure revisions and the development of new policies, procedures, and systems related to areas of responsibility. Serves on or presides over committees. Serves as a resource for internal and external customers.
Build strong relationships with campus administrators, faculty and staff; work in partnership with other University offices to enhance the operations at the College. Conducts research for projects and initiatives within the College. Participate in the development and implementation of training materials and instruction to improve and enhance the service provided by staff. Works with development officers, scholarship manager, and Foundations on gift transactions. And other assigned duties or special projects.
Qualifications
Master's degree and five years' experience related to administrative services or a Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience. Two years of experience must be in a supervisory role.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a higher education institution in a state of Florida public institution.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of the concept, principles and practices of management.
Knowledge of and the ability to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities.
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of management.
