Job Description
AbbVies Corporate Communications team is responsible for enterprise internal and external communications to enhance and protect AbbVies reputation. The team is seeking an Associate Director who will lead incident response communications to critical cybersecurity events, major network outages, data privacy and other IT incidents across AbbVies global footprint.
As a member of the Global Operations Communications team, this role will be responsible for working cross-functionally to rapidly identify, mitigate and elevate reputational and business issues. The successful candidate will also lead communications for our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and support other key executives involved in incident response including AbbVies global privacy team. This role will work also closely with Business Technology Services (BTS) to develop, deliver and deploy effective cybersecurity communications in response to specific or emerging threats.
Responsibilities
Leads crisis communications governance and responses to major cybersecurity and data privacy issues across AbbVies global footprint Serves as communications lead on Business Technology Services Crisis Action Team Partners with AbbVies Cybersecurity Incident Response Team to rapidly identify, triage and elevate issues impacting operations, networks, data security or employees. Maintains cybersecurity and data incident response communications plan and supports training, upskilling and education of AbbVies communications teams around the world Leads executive communications and thought leadership for the Chief Information Security Officer, working closely with AbbVie security, privacy and information technology teams. Supports proactive and reactive internal communications aimed at protecting AbbVie systems, networks and devices from emerging cyber threats and trends Interfaces daily with key enterprise functions including Legal, Business Technology Services (BTS), Government Affairs, Corporate Affairs and Human Resources Supports and promotes communications and education efforts for new technologies, like AI, and enterprise efforts to protect critical data and systems Monitors traditional media, social media and other communications channels for cybersecurity trends and identifies potential issues potentially impacting AbbVie Works with Corporate Communications team on key event, change management and integration initiatives and other strategic communications campaigns
This position is based in Lake County, IL and will work in-office three days per week.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred Minimum 10 years of public relations/communications experience required. Cybersecurity communications experience required; international experience is a plus Knowledge of cybersecurity landscape; trade media relationships are a plus Proven track record of working with senior executives and translating complex and technical information into impactful and action-oriented communications Strong communication skills written and verbal, with exceptional attention to detail and ability to provide strategic counsel for a variety of communications scenarios Ability to think strategically and act decisively in high-pressure situations Strong project management, agility and ability to meet tight deadlines This role is part of a team with international responsibilities and the successful candidate will be expected to be available during nights and weekends in crisis situations Some travel and non-traditional work hours will also be expected

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Companybelieves ingood faith it will pay for this role at the timeof this posting based on the job grade for this position.Individualcompensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, andwemay ultimatelypay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in thefuture.
